Joseph Gualtiere

Joseph Gualtiere is a tenor from New York currently studying opera and classical voice at The Boston Conservatory. He has performed in world-renown venues, and a series of
operas and musicals.

Biography

    Joseph Gualtiere is from New York City and is currently attending The Boston Conservatory on scholarship, where he studies opera and classical voice with Patty Thom. He is a proud recent graduate of The Fame School, LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

    Joseph Gualtiere has made recent debuts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, where he sang solo at New York City Opera and Avery Fischer Hall as well as with the New York Philharmonic. He also performed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Merkin Concert Hall. He has been featured on television and at Madison Square Garden as a backup singer for Elton John.

   Joe will soon perform with The Boston Conservatory in Puccini's La Rondine and Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi. Opera Credits: The Mikado (Nanki-Poo), Cosi Fan Tutte (Ferrando), Pirates of Penzance (Frederic), and a world premiere production of Dido & Aeneas performed with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and Jody Oberfelder Dance Projects.

 

     Joseph recently performed in  Ragtime (Houdini) and the 1st revival of City of Angels (Angel City 4), choreographed by Walter Painter, who staged the original Broadway, London, and National Tour productions. Joe was recently granted an award from The Josephine Foundation for Best Male Performance of 2007 in Once Upon a Mattress (Jester). Other musical credits include: Light In the Piazza (Fabrizio Naccarelli), Fame (Nick Piazza), Bye Bye Birdie (Albert Peterson), Grease (Sonny), A Chorus Line (Greg), and West Side Story.

    Joe recently sang the tenor solo in the Mozart Requiem, and has sung with many leading choirs including Grammy Award ® Winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus, National Festival Chorus, Boston Conservatory Chorale, and LaGuardia Symphony Chorus, singing pieces such as Mozart's Mass in C minor, Handel’s Four Coronation AnthemsFaure RequiemHaydn’s Te Deum, and Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms.

    Joseph Gualtiere is a Cirio Foundation Scholar and member of the National Honor Roll. He is also a proud recipient of the FatherFame Award.

    Joe also had the privilege of sharing the stage with many such as Bill Clinton, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, and Bernie Taupin in addition to performing for The Sopranos, Rosie O’Donnell, Zach Braff, Anne Hathaway, the Osbournes, and Paul McCartney.

    Joseph plans to continue his career in opera and musical theatre.
